| Chairman's Words

Moving forward, deepening the core, and advancing internationally

Firstly, I would like to express my gratitude for everyone's support. It is my honor to assume the role of the second chairman of the Taiwan Acute Myocardial Infarction Society (TAMIS). Looking back at the establishment of the society in 2020, it was during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite the challenges, over the past three years, through strategic online communication and under the leadership of Honorary Chairman Wei-Chun and the diligent efforts of our members, TAMIS has continued to be recognized as one of the few interdisciplinary, cross-professional, and cross-specialty disease societies in Taiwan. The trend of cardiovascular diseases becoming increasingly prevalent among younger individuals in recent years, coupled with the persistent lack of significant reduction in overall cardiovascular disease mortality rates, underscores the urgency of effectively and swiftly optimizing the domestic acute myocardial infarction (AMI) care system to improve patient quality of life and reduce mortality rates. Building upon the achievements of the first term, including organizing annual meetings, GAMI, and autumn conferences, as well as the online Taiwan and international conferences of the Acute Myocardial Infarction Academy, and the recognition of firefighters' life-saving efforts through the Golden Heart Award, our focus now lies on effectively executing educational initiatives on the TAMIS platform, facilitating peer discussions to enhance medical knowledge, deepening local and international data research and integration, and fostering medical intelligence and consensus development. Furthermore, providing professional proposals and policy recommendations to the government, enhancing international connections, and promoting the development of world-class AMI care are our main development goals.

In terms of research and development within the society, the collection of local AMI data, basic and clinical research, and the national AMI case registration program are all core capabilities of TAMIS. Only through excellent research outcomes and data management can we derive the intelligence and treatment guidelines relevant to AMI treatment. In addition to continuing to support various basic and clinical research efforts, we are also planning to collaborate with countries such as Japan and Korea to combine their local data for research purposes, aiming to establish an Asia-Pacific AMI treatment consensus.

Regarding public education, we have established a Health Education Committee. As AMI care requires seamless coordination from pre-hospital to post-hospital care, the patient's awareness of the disease is also a crucial factor in initiating treatment. Therefore, we hope to remind the public to adopt proactive strategies when facing possible AMI situations through collaboration with various media outlets, urging timely medical attention.

In assisting government policy promotion and providing professional proposal recommendations, the society has previously successfully cooperated with the government in pre-hospital care, pre-hospital electrocardiography, and cardiac enzyme testing. Additionally, in efforts to improve patient care and reduce mortality rates, we have proposed recommendations for post-acute AMI care policies and continue to advocate for continuous monitoring and care for patients in the acute phase, addressing various cardiovascular risk factors and comorbidities.

In terms of international exchange, the society has established the International Affairs Committee, dedicated to international exchanges and conference organization. Through the annual GAMI (Global Acute Myocardial Infarction Congress) led by the society, we aim to influence the field of AMI treatment and establish Taiwan as an indispensable partner globally. Over the years, we have invited international organizations such as APAC (Asia Primary Angioplasty Conference), SSL (Stent Save Life), JCR (Joint Coronary Revascularization), MisKorea (Myocardial Infarction Society - Korea), and GICS (Gwangju International Interventional Cardiology Symposium) to participate in our activities, hoping to share Taiwan's experiences and continue to advocate for Taiwan on the global stage.

As AMI care requires multidisciplinary participation, our society members are diverse, including emergency physicians, intensivists, cardiologists, rehabilitation physicians, nurses, specialized nurses, EMTs, dietitians, health educators, and pharmacists. Through the TAMIS platform, we hope that all relevant colleagues in the AMI care field can freely express themselves, share expertise, and ignite the spark of progress. We also look forward to everyone constructing a world-class AMI team.

Finally, on the path to constructing a world-class AMI team, TAMIS is everyone's best partner and backstage helper. Together, let us improve the quality of care, safeguard patient health, and promote social welfare.
